File

Install Fonts - This will install any fonts that are selected in the Font Files or Font Groups tabs. For more information, see the Installing Fonts section.

Uninstall Fonts - This will uninstall any fonts that are selected in the Installed Fonts, Font Files or Font Groups tabs. For more information, see the Uninstalling Fonts section.

Save Font List - Use this to create a text file listing all the fonts currently selected. For more information, see the Create a Font List File section.

Printer Setup - Opens the print setup dialog box allowing you to select a printer.

Print All Fonts in Folder - If the Installed Fonts tab is selected, then all the fonts will be selected and the Print dialog opens./
If the Font Files or Font Groups tab is selected, then this will print all the fonts in the current folder and subfolders. For more information, see the Printing Fonts section.

Print - Prints the selected fonts. See Printing Fonts.

Properties - Opens the Properties dialog for each of the selected fonts.

Exit - Exit's Printer's Apprentice.

Edit

Copy - This will copy the current character or sample text in the main window to the clipboard in both text and HTML format.

If the Keyboard tab is selected, then the keyboard image is copied to the clipboard.

Copy Font List - This will create a text listing of the selected fonts and copy it to the clipboard. See the Create a Font List File section for more information about the options for this function.

Delete - This deletes the selected fonts. If the fonts are installed, they are uninstalled first.

Copy to Folder - This copies a font to a selected folder. See Managing Fonts and How to Copy or Move Fonts to a Folder for more information.

Move to Folder - This moves a font to a selected folder. See Managing Fonts and How to Copy or Move Fonts to a Folder for more information.

Copy to Font Group - This copies a font to a selected Font Group. See Font Groups and How to Copy or Move Fonts to a Font Group for more information.

Move to Font Group - This copies a font to a selected Font Group. See Font Groups and How to Copy or Move Fonts to a Font Group for more information.

View

Installed Fonts - Toggles various viewing options for the Installed Fonts tab.

Font Files - Toggles various viewing options for the Font Files tab.

Font Groups - Toggles various viewing options for the Font Groups tab.

Select

All - Selects all fonts in the currently selected list.

Font Family Fonts - Selects all fonts of a given family in the currently selected list. For example, if you have Arial Bold currently selected, this menu entry will read "Arial Fonts" and clicking this menu entry will select all Arial fonts.

By Style - Allows you to select all fonts of a given style.

By File Format - Allows you to select all fonts of a given file format (TrueType, OpenType or Type 1).

Deselect - Deselects all fonts in the currently selected list.

Characters

Upper Case - Jump to the upper case characters section of the font in the viewer window.

Lower Case - Jump to the lower case characters section of the font in the viewer window.

Numbers - Jump to the numbers section of the font in the viewer window.

Accents - Jump to the accented characters section of the font in the viewer window.

Symbols - Use this to locate various symbols in the viewer window.

Tools

Refresh Font List - If the Installed fonts list is selected, then Printer's Apprentice will reread the fonts that are installed in the Windows Control panel. Otherwise, it rereads the font files from the current folder or group.

Options - Opens the Options dialog so you can customize Printer's Apprentice.

Explore Windows Fonts Folder - This opens up the Windows Fonts folder in Explorer. This is typically c:\windows\fonts.

Explore Font Groups Folder - This opens up the Font Groups folder in Explorer. This is typically C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Printer's Apprentice\Font Groups.

You can customize the font groups folder location by using the Options dialog.

Printer's Apprentice Logs Folder - During certain operations, such as installing fonts, Printer's Apprentice will create log files. These can be used to help diagnose the situation if a problem comes up. Selecting this menu item will open the Logs folder in Explorer.

Windows Control Panel - Opens the Windows Control Panel

Windows Character Map - Opens the Windows Character Map tool
